  • Taiwanese Women and Sports

Taiwanese women have been influenced by practices such as foot-binding and various misconceptions for many years. It was not until the success of the foot-binding movement in the 1910s and the popularization of women's education that the relationship between women and sports began to intersect.

Since then, Taiwanese female athletes have never been absent from international competitions and have shown remarkable performances. In our country's Olympic history, female athletes have won a total of 14 medals out of the 24, accounting for about 60% of the total. In the Paralympics, female athletes have also won 10 medals out of the 24.

  • Just Want to Take a Run: Sports and Women's Lives

The notion that women should not appear in public has deeply influenced their attire and space in sports. Not only were they confined to indoor sports, but they also had to cover their bodies completely. Until today, in terms of the body, clothing, and space, women's sports have transitioned from a closed to an open era. Women have moved from pursuing a slender figure and engaging in tightly covered indoor activities to embracing a diverse range of sports that are more open, sunlit, and female-friendly.

  • My Own Room: Passing the Ball to Every Generation of You

Taiwan's feminist movement has been ongoing for 44 years since 1976. It has fought for gender equality in politics, family, education, and society, opening up possibilities for women to explore the world.

In 2020, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the "Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action," which was adopted at the UN's Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995. The declaration aimed to improve the status of women in various aspects. Today, many countries are gradually moving towards a society of gender equality. The next step is to discuss generations and ensure the realization of women's rights in an equal future.

Women's Participation in Sports in Taiwan

臺灣女性參與運動

Taiwanese women were influenced by practices like foot binding and various misconceptions in the early years, which resulted in sports and women seemingly running on parallel lines.

It wasn't until the successful foot liberation movement in the 1910s and the spread of education that women's participation in sports began to change.

Since then, we can observe that Taiwanese female athletes have never been absent from international competitions, as evidenced by their active presence in various major sporting events.

Passing the Ball to Each Generation of You

把球傳給每個世代的你

After over 40 years of ups and downs in the gender equality movement, it is now time to pass the ball to the girls. We hope that the girls of the future can be more free, more confident, and be treated with greater equality.

Sports and Women's Lives

運動與女人的生活

In terms of body, clothing, and space, they remain important issues in women's sports and gender equality.

The revolution in women's sports is happening

女性運動的革命正在發生

For women's sports, on the three aspects of body, clothing, and space, we have transitioned from closed to open eras. Women have moved from pursuing slender body images and tightly covered indoor sports to embracing diverse, sunshine-filled, and female-friendly sports activities
