Exhibition Information "Deep Cultivation, Compassion, Responsibility, and Sustainability" is a portrayal of Taiwanese rural women's century-long journey. In the 21st century, Taiwanese women have made remarkable contributions and achievements across personal, family, work, and even national and social realms. Rural women, in particular, have exemplified determination and simplicity, breaking away from tradition and embracing diversity, thereby driving the progress of rural areas. In 2012, in line with the theme of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) – "The role and empowerment of rural women and their contribution to poverty eradication, development, and current challenges" – the "Life Imprints of Taiwanese Rural Women" exhibition was specially curated to raise awareness about the living conditions of rural women and document the evolving roles of women in rural society. Agriculture - From Supporting Roles to Lead Roles: Rural women actively engage in labor, contributing to the field of organic and ecological agriculture, a significant driving force in uplifting Taiwan's industries. Forestry - Traditional Restoration by Women: Rural women embody traditional conservation wisdom and knowledge, taking action to practice ecological preservation, environmental guardianship, and biodiversity protection. Fishing - Guardians of the Sea: Women in fishing communities safeguard the oceans, facing the challenges of the sea with determination as they engage in fishing and aquaculture. Livestock Farming - Ecological Classroom Restoration: Female proprietors of farms and pastures diligently nurture quality livestock, combining ecological conservation, local industry, cultural heritage, and agricultural development, thereby boosting rural economic prosperity. |
