Under the expectations of family, society, and culture, women have long shouldered multiple caregiving roles and contributed an unimaginable amount of labor. However, they have often been regarded as unproductive members of society. In the past, cultural practices such as the belief that "women lack talent but possess virtue" and foot-binding further limited women's opportunities for outward development. Therefore, as the mindset of empowerment and encouragement of women's education emerged, it led to the awakening and transformation of knowledgeable women who gradually made their presence known in the workplace. With increased education levels and the influence of Western culture, job opportunities have become more diverse, allowing modern women to showcase their professionalism and shine in the workplace. When women enter the workforce, they may temporarily escape the confines of traditional family roles but must be mentally prepared to face numerous challenges. They strive to break free from stereotypes and become resilient women who balance multiple responsibilities while meeting the demands of family and cultural traditions. Consequently, they create unique collective memories or epitomes of their time, with these memories permeating the familiar corners of our streets. This exhibition will start from the aforementioned context and explore historical records, life stories, and landmarks related to women from various regions. These will be woven together to form a series of distinctive paths, highlighting local characteristics. Through this exhibition, we hope to collectively experience these century-old women's stories, transcending different spaces and allowing us to appreciate them within this context. |
