Exhibition Content:

This exhibition focuses on menstruation, the body, and the resilience of Taiwanese women and their historical imprints, through the story of "Grandma's Menstruation." It showcases the journey of Taiwanese women as they face menstruation and how these experiences are intertwined with their bodily memory and self-identity.

Menstruation is a natural phenomenon that accompanies most biological females for approximately thirty to forty years, covering almost half of their lifetime. It accompanies them through the transitions from adolescence to menopause, intimately linked with their bodily memory and self-identity.

Before and after the onset of menstruation, individuals embark on a unique and personal journey of exploration and understanding of their own bodies and those of others. These experiences are highly influenced by various factors, such as their environment, historical context, cultural beliefs, and other daily complexities, shaping distinct and intricate processes of bodily memory.

In the exhibition, we will listen to Granny's stories, gaining insight into her life, relationships with family and friends, and her perception of herself.

Menstruation is not merely a symbol of transitioning from adolescence to adulthood, nor is it solely about the red stains left on cloth. It is a delicate thread that weaves through Granny's daily life, accompanying us as we trace back to the pivotal moments in her life.

Through this exhibition, we hope to present the significance of menstruation in women's lives and the resilience and uniqueness of Taiwanese women in this regard. Simultaneously, we aim to explore the interrelation between bodily memory and self-identity, allowing the audience to gain deeper understanding and resonance with this topic.
