LONG AFTER Concept Exhibition

Stories always begin with a long, long time ago, not to make us dwell in the past, but to provide insights across time and space. The life long after depends on our present moment's awareness, thinking, and decisions.

Gender equality is not only a value, a mindset, and a manifestation of behavior, but also a purposeful action. From the realms of "individual," "family," "social interactions," and "workplace," to the entire "social environment," women face different challenges in life.

What are the changes brought about by past events, advocacies, and legislative amendments? Therefore, this year's exhibition at the "Taiwan National Women's Hall" attempts to explore the values and meanings behind these statistics through visualizing personal, educational, occupational, and health aspects with statistical charts.

Through interactive cognition and contemplation, it aims not only to examine individuals' perception of gender issues but also to foster more thinking and discussion through understanding.

We hope that through this exhibition, it can promote everyone to observe gender equality from within themselves and explore the underlying challenges behind the promotion of women's rights.

Seeing the Past

In 1969, the first-ever issuance of currency featuring a female image took place.

Chen Mingzhu, a highly popular female spokesperson for agricultural machinery, became known for her role in teaching farmers how to operate plows and solve machine-related issues.

During an era when only the portraits of national leaders appeared on currency, the government, in response to the United Nations' food production campaign, minted 10 million commemorative one-dollar coins featuring Chen Mingzhu driving a plow.

This marked the only instance in Taiwan's history where a woman appeared on currency.

In 1990, Taiwan's first group of female pilots in civil aviation was born.

Liu Yanling and Chen Lihui, employees of China Airlines, obtained their commercial pilot licenses issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States after completing flight training. Their achievements marked a significant milestone in Taiwan's aviation industry, as they became the first female pilots in the country's civil aviation sector.
